Account Username
-
Good day!
I recently created a WordPress account and I wanted to change my username from @usernameX to @usernameY but @usernameY is already used by my old WordPress account so I logged in to my old one and changed its username from @usernameY to @usernameZ so I could have @dusernameY on this account. What I do not know is that once I change it to another username, the old username can not be taken back and can not be used by other accounts either. I have a serious problem here. All my social media accounts works by that username and I don’t want my WordPress to be different so anyone can reach me at once. I’m being so OC about this. I hope you can do something about it. I have been a WordPress user for years and I don’t want to switch to other blog host for a username. :(
Hope this case could be excluded from the terms and may this be resolved soon. This is so frustrating :(

* I also see that WordPress does not allow the old username to be used to avoid impersonation but I can guarantee that the old username is me. Help me with this one please :(

Hi there,
I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do in this case. It is not possible to change any username to one that already exists. And once a username has been disabled via a username change, there is no way to reactivate it or reverse the username change.
This is not a matter of policy, but a technical restriction built into our account management system itself, so we cannot make any exceptions.
