Acquiring domain name

  I would like to order a domain name for my account. I used to have a website, http://www.aranyefradenburg.com,
  hosted by godaddy, and I’d prefer to have that again for my blog with you. Is it possible to arrange that? I’m not sure godaddy has taken it down yet, though I requested the cancellation. If you could just let me know what I need to do, I’d appreciate it. Thank you, L.O. Aranye Fradenburg

  The domain aranyefradenburg.com appears to be registered with GoDaddy through 2017. So what you are going to want to do is to follow the instructions on this page to map aranyefradenburg.com to your WordPress.com site:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Now I’m afraid to do this transfer because I’m getting a message about how if I don’t update something-or-other my blog may become inaccessible.

  That is just telling you that you need to set the domain’s nameservers to point to WordPress.com. If you do not, your domain cannot point to your WordPress.com site.

  However, what you can do is to set your nameservers at your registrar, and then wait a day or two for them to update across the internet. Once that has happened, you can follow the instructions I linked to earlier and aranyefradenburg.com will point to your WordPress.com site the moment you finish the Mapping setup.
