active access token?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a bunch of students on this blog. Most have signed in with no problems but I have some that get the invite, they click on it. WP asks if they want to join the blog. They say yes and then thee is a pop up that says: you need an active access token to accept the invite.

I don’t even know what that is and she was invited just like everyone else and they got in. Why does she need a token and how do I get her one?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have set your site to private. Visitors must be logged in to their wordpress.com account. If she doesn’t have a wordpress.com account, she can’t see your site.

We want the site private because it’s for paid art students and we don’t want the public on it. I have 10 blogs that I’ve done for other art classes and all were private and I’ve never had this problem.

I’m assuming she has an account since she has accepted the invite and is listed as an author on the site. She has already posted her Introduction. So she is clearly on the site.

I’ll tell her to sign into WordPress, is there an easy way for her to do that? When she goes to the blog it just says it’s private her screenshot didn’t show a log in box.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

Sorry to hear about the issue. I think it’s happening due to one of the following reasons:

    1. The person trying to accept the invite is already logged in to a WordPress.com account that’s using a different email address than the one the invite was sent to.
    2. Cookies or cache problems within the browser. Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
    3. Other browser extensions causing issues while accepting the invite.

We suggest sending the invite again and making sure that the recipient does the following:

    1. Log out of any WordPress.com account they are already logged in to.
    2. Clear the browser cache or open the invite link in a completely different browser.
    3. If they still see the error message, take a full-page screenshot including the address bar and send it to you. You can then upload that to your media library at https://wordpress.com/media so that we can look into that.

    Regards
