Add a post and editing not working as normal

As of about 12 hours ago, I’ve not been able to add a new post, complete with photos, to my blog.
I wrote my text in MSWord and pasted it in. In my draft it shows up with the control characters <p> and </p> at the beginning and end of every paragraph, and no spaces the paragraphs. I have tried removing these characters, add paragraph returns, and Saving. I have tried toggling between Visual and Code, with no result. (OK, I am new to WordPress.)
ALSO, I am unable to Send to Editor my uploaded photos, to have them inserted with the text.
Is the WordPress system having a problem that anyone else has detected? -
It’s not a good idea to use Microsoft Word; it adds all kinds of tags and things, and can seriously cause a problem on your blog.
But that might or might not be related to the current issue.
Please give us your URL, starting with http, and tell us what browser and version you’re using.

I am using Windows XP and Internet Explorer, a version last midified on 27 June 2007. It is hard for me to get information from this computer, because its user defined language is French, and it has a French keyboard.
But my posts have worked fine up until now and I haven’t changed the way I use WordPress.

Well, that’s a relatively stable combination. We often get image uploading problems when people use Safari. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies and reloading the page?
It may be that there is interference from the HTML Word has put in there. Try deleting the post and starting over, copying from Word, pasting that into Wordpad using Paste Special, Remove Formatting, and then copy and paste THAT version. See if that helps.

OK, I cleared the history and cookies (I think, given my limited French).
Then I wrote a short poem as a new post. It too showed up with carraige return characters when I saved it, i.e.
<p>the quick red fox had a friend</p>
<p>together they danced over the sanddunes</p>
<p>all day</p>
But when I go to Preview they are not there, so I guess I wont worry about this problem. Still not sure why my photos wont be Sent to Editor, but I will try by starting with a new post entirely as you suggest. -
Tried that. I can upload photos and browse them, but when I try to Send to Editor, the bar at the bottom of my window says ‘Error on Page’ (in French).
This is frustrating.

If you’d like to change the language to English, go to Options>General and it’s the 3rd option on the first screen you’ll see. I suspect your blog thinks all of Quebec wants French as the default.

Thank you. I may do that temporarily. Not my workstation you see, but I have enough trouble straightening these things out in English!

Can someone tell me how to get in touch with WordPress Support by email please? I can upload my photos successfully, but Send to Editor results in a “Page Error”. All was working fine until yesterday, and I have changed nothing. I am using Windows XP with Internet Explorer, over a satellite connection in the middle of nowhere. BUT, it all worked fine until yesterday. And I did reset my History and Cookies in Explorer, and start a fresh blog. Nothing works.

Use the support tab in the upper right in your dashboard. It’s there when support is open, which it is now and will be till 4PM Pacific.
