Yes, that can be done, but the process will delete all of your site’s current content.
Please confirm that you agree and then we’ll import the theme’s demo content and layout.

Thanks for confirming. You are all set with demo content on your site. Please note that is is not the same content as you see on the demo site, since we do not have copyright to all content (to distribute it on other sites)
However all major theme settings are configured and a sample portfolio project has been set up. As you add more items to your portfolio they will appear on the homepage automatically.

Thank you. For some reason the homepage is blank when editing, but when previewing it shows some portfolio projects. Do you know why those projects are there when previewing but not when editing?

The Illustratr theme was created before we had a block-based editor, so you do not edit the portfolio grid directly. That is controlled by your theme, which pulls content from your portfolio section and displays it visually on your homepage.
That is why it does not show up in the editor, because the grid is not something you can edit directly. When you edit the homepage, you are able to add custom content, but it is limited to the area above the grid, as shown in this screenshot:
