Add DNS record for dew-point.com.hk
-
I do not understand a lot of this, but I want to use our companies domain name (dew-point.com.hk) for our company blog. I will probably change the name before finally registering to something else like blog.dew-point.com.hk.
I’ve tried to add a Zone Record for the domain dew-point.com.hk but it asked me to contact support. Could you please add the Zone Record for me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I added a new DNS Zone record for your domain. This change may take a little while to be fully effective. Could you give it some time then try updating the name servers again?
You can go to Store > Domains on your blog’s dashboard and follow the steps there.
Please take a look at the following guide before going through the process.

Thank you for you assistance. My domain isn’t showing yet under Store > Domains. I’ll check again in a few days.
I didn’t understand the very first step in the link you provided, either:
1. Update your domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMDoes it mean I have to make the above change to dew-point.com.hk?

Exactly what do you want to do with the name – you have two options – if you have a stand alone name you change the name servers and map the domain as the instructions above. But if you do that and you use your company name you will crash your company web site!!
If you use a name that is similar to your company then you would change the name servers for the not exactly your company name.
Probably the best would be to map as a sub-domain to your company – that way you have a unified name and that helps your search results.
i.e. your blog here would be mapped to “blog.dew-point.com.hk” with dew-point.com.hkas your regular company web site – then your blog here looks just like part of your company

Thanks for your comment, auxclass.
I don’t want to confuse the blog with my website risking crashing my website. I want to do as you said in the 2nd option, map as a sub-domain to my company, which ideally will benefit the SEO of my company website (if indeed SEO works that way).
I want to set my wordpress blog as blog.dew-point.com.hk. How would I go about achieving this?
Many thanks again.

yes – the search engines combine your company web site and your blog here when you map as a sub-domain – both sites will benefit – your company site will look “bigger”
These instructions should help:

Thanks again, auxclass. I’ll follow the instructions in the link and hopefully will manage from there.
Cheers!

My service provider is asking me to provide the IP address to be mapped to my desired sub-domain, do they mean that I need to give them the ip address of my wordpress blog account? How would I find that out?
