‘Add new’ button

  In my account there is not a button with ‘add new’ in themes. Why is this. I have not yet linked a domain name and I use the free version.
  Also that I use the free version should not be the problem because my friend uses the free version also and he can add a (downloaded) theme such as astra.

  I guess your friends site isn’t unning on the free wordpress.com platform but uses the open source wordpress.org. To understand the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org, https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
