Add project type to menu

I added project type to the menu bar and some of them appeared as tag instead of project type. Why is that?

  • Hi there,

It appears that for Graphic Design and Experience Design you have post tags using an identical URL slug (the bit of the link after the last / ) to the project types, and that’s confusing the menu.

It should not be possible to have project types, categories and tags using the same slug – if a tag name is the same as a category name, the slug for the second one that’s added second should get a -1, -2, -3, etc. appended to it, and for some reason it appears that didn’t happen here.

To fix it, I’d suggest editing the tags at https://warathayac.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=post_tag. Change the tag name – just a small change like one letter – and save. Edit your menu, remove the tags and try editing the project types to the menu again. Then edit the tag back to what it was.

Of course, it would be better if you don’t duplicate the same terms across categories and tags, or types and tags. Use post categories and project types for your content organisation – those are the overarching topics for the site as a whole. Then use tags for key words specific to that one post or project. That should prevent similar conflicts in future.
