add theme button missing

Forgive me, I’m new to this.
I just purchased the Premium package with wordpress, and have purchased the Semplice website builder. I’m instructed to go to Themes -> Add new theme, and then upload semplice, however There is no Add new theme button in the Theme menu.
I’ve read through heaps of forums but I just can’t find out anything. I’m not familiar with all the website building lingo and all that jazz, so a lot of it is over my head.
    Please help!

  • Themes can’t be uploaded to sites hosted on WordPress.com. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

On WordPress.com, you can select from a variety of themes to change your blog’s appearance. You can read more about customizing the appearance and theme of your blog on WordPress.com here:

We offer over 300 themes, both free themes and premium themes created by leading theme companies. You can view all of our themes and filter them by specific criteria here:

    Thanks for this!
It’s taken me a while to get my head around all this, but I think I’m almost there. I upgraded my domain host server (123reg.co.uk) to a wordpress hosting account, and installed wordpress onto it, and then uploaded the Semplice theme into the theme folder directory. However – the theme still doesn’t come up in wordpress.
Will it help to unmap my domain and re-map it?
    Any advice??
    Thanks!

  • It sounds like maybe you are logging into your WordPress.com account and looking for your self-hosted WordPress.org site. That will not work. You need to log into your self-hosted site directly.

    Thanks again for your reply!
I feel like I’m asking another dumb question here (sorry) but how do I log in toy sold hosted site?

Ok, ONE last question please! (so sorry!)

I’m all up and running now by the looks of things, however I now need my domain larswijers.com to point towards my wordpress.org page, as it currently still takes me to my wordpress.com page.

(This is where it gets a little tricky, becuase I ended up using 2 usernames / wordpress accounts)
    – In setting up my wordpress.org page just now, I set up a new username – LarsChristianWijers which links to my self-hosted site. This is where I want my domain larswijers.com to point.
    – My initial wordpress.com page is username LarsWijers (and what currently has the larswijers.com mapped to it) and uses larschristianwijers.wordpress.com

What do I need to do to point my domain to my .org / self-hosted site? What should my DNS nameserver be set as?

Thanks again for helping such a novice!

You do not need to do anything on our end.

You will need to ask your webhost what nameservers they use and then go to your omain registrar and update the nameservers for your domain to the values they give you.
