Added a new additional blog, but where is it?
-
I tried to add a new blog, using another .com domain I own. It went through the first screen where I selected a standard one, but the new blog doesn’t show up in my list of blogs on my account. When I try to add it again, it now says it already exists, so I can’t add it. How do I find it and complete the process of creating it, and redirecting from the .com to the wordpress.com site?

Hi there,
You are dead in the water until you post the URL of the blog your refer to because without it be cannot even begin to help you. -
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own
costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and it does not matter a feather or a fig what the underlying.wordpress.com blog URL is when you are domain mapping so do not assume it has to match your domain URL because it doesn’t.
If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Original blog we have is tamarackgoldens.com. We attempted to add one for bwhip.com. I was ready to pay the $13.00 fee for the domain mapping (as I did with tamarackgoldens.com), but it never got to that point in the process. I selected the beginner option on this page: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?ref=newdash-myblogs-bottom, and then it just went right back to asking me to select a blog address again (which is when it told me that bwhip.com was already registered).

When I try to select bwhip.wordpress.com, it says it is already reserved. But where is it? It doesn’t show up on my list of blogs. So, I can’t complete the process or create the blog, but I can’t go back to the beginning and add it either. It seems to be lost in vapor somewhere.

Yes, it says it’s reserved when I click on that link. However, I believe it’s reserved because I attempted to create it earlier, and it went part of the way through the process, but not all the way. Now I can’t get to it to complete the process. That’s the problem.
-
Oops! Sorry.
When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.
If you own the bwhip username account
then you can log in as Admin under that username account and register the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ If you don’t own that username account then you cannot register the reserved blog. -
Well, I thought I did own the bwhip username account. When I log in and look at this page http://wordpress.com/my-blogs/ it only shows the tamarackgoldens blog, not the bwhip.com one. When I attempted to add that blog (bwhip.com or bwhip.wordpress.com) earlier today, it allowed me to do so, but did not complete the process or charge me the $18.00, but now I can’t get to it to finalize. Both definitely showed as available earlier, I am 100% certain. If not reserved for me, then whom? If it is reserved for me, how do I get to it?

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Keep waiting and don’t bump your threads. When you reply again you send the thread to the back of the line. Just wait. When someone has an answer for you, they will answer.
-
Oh no! As would be expected, Staff deal with the threads tagged for their attention in datestamp order, and this thread was tagged long after many other threads were tagged. When you post into a thread again the datestamp and timestamp moves forward in time so that’s NOT the way to go. The way to go is to practice patience.

Hi there,
There’s already a WordPress.com account with the username bwhips, so the blog address bwhips.wordpress.com is reserved for that user. If you think you created that WordPress.com account, but you can’t remember the login information for it, you can log out of your current WordPress.com account and visit this link for help with that:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Click the “Need More Help?” link next to the button, and fill out the form. Our account recovery team will get back to you by email so you can discuss the options in private.
However, you’re welcome to create a new WordPress.com blog using a new, unique blog address (other than bwhips.wordpress.com). Then, as long as you own the domain name bwhip.com, you can map that domain to your blog. Visitors to your site will only see the custom domain bwhip.com, not the free .wordpress.com address you use to create the blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi – Thanks for responding. The account I was requesting was not bwhips.wordpress.com, it was bwhip.wordpress.com. I own the bwhip.com domain, and originally when I tried to add bwhip.wordpress.com, the system said it was available and that I could, but it got stuck halfway through the process. Now it says that bwhip.wordpress.com is reserved. Because I had requested it, and it said it was available, it seemed as though it may have been reserved for me through that process.
-
Oops, sorry about my typos! I meant to write the username bwhip and the address bwhip.wordpress.com, but that extra “s” kept slipping in.
The username bwhip has been registered for quite some time, so the blog address bwhip.wordpress.com has also been reserved. I’m not sure why the system was telling you that bwhip.wordpress.com was available. I’m sorry for the confusion. You’ll need to pick a different, unique address to use for your blog, but you’ll still be able to map your domain bwhip.com to that blog once you’re done. :)

You’re welcome. If you run into any further trouble setting up your new blog with your custom domain, please let me know.
