Adding a Calendar that both includes Post Dates and Future Event Information

  All,

  I’ve seen this with other WordPress websites, and I’m wondering how to do it myself.

  On another website (http://pokemon.schema-d.com), they’ve enabled a Calendar on the left hand side that links both the original post date and the event date that the post is referring to. This linking happens automatically when a post is created if the user fills out the correct section on the “New Page” page. I’m wondering where this came from, and how to put it into my website.

  The blog you point to is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog like the one linked to your username. It’s a WordPress.ORG install WordPress.COM vs WordPress.ORG: The differences. The functionality you describe is not available on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

  All WordPress blogs do have a calender widget. Appearance > Widgets > Calender Widget and it will highlight the dates on which you publish your posts. The events calendar that we can use on WordPress.com blogs is the Google Calendar.

  Thanks for the help there, timethief! I decided to go with Google Calendar, but now I’ve got a new problem…

  OK, now this is driving me crazy. I added a Google Calendar to my website along the left side. Only, it’s not displaying my Calendar correctly. I’ve added a bunch of events to the Calendar, but they’re not displaying on my website at all. I’ve got the calendar displaying, but not the Events. What am I screwing up?

  After a bit of investigating, it looks like the default size of the Google Calendar on my WordPress site isn’t actually displaying any information. I kludged it taller, and now I can at least see something resembling information there. It just looks terrible, is all. Is there any way to make this work better so that a current month calendar can actually display my event information in something that looks semi-professional?

  edit: “maps” was meant to be “calendar”
