Adding Existing Domains

  I have had an existing domain (a .com) for many years that I pay for via a different provider. WordPress disconnected the site and the dashboard won’t let me link it up. I try to go to the domain section but it won’t let me sync that one. What do I need to do to synch my domain I own to my WordPress?

  WP.com: Yes
  Jetpack: No
  Correct account: Yes

  Just to follow up on this cause I didn’t know it would go to forums, I click leaks to add Existing Domain, it asks me to pick a site to add the domain and it just refreshes the screen, not taking me to anywhere where I can select/login to a domain.

  You should be able to connect an existing domain here: https://wordpress.com/domains/add/use-my-domain/adamdork.wordpress.com/

  What is the domain you’re looking to use? The full instructions on how to connect a domain can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  The domain name servers would need to be changed to:

  ns1.wordpress.com
  ns2.wordpress.com
  ns3.wordpress.com

  This would be done at the domain registrar.

  When using that first link, it is showing me something different. It now says I have to be the admin to make purchases but I am the admin and it isn’t giving me any options.

  Also, does WordPress not allow me to host my bought domain through them with a free account anymore? Is that why it is disconnected? Still not sure why they keep saying I am not admin when I have admin access though.

  I own NTBoardGames.com and have been using it with WordPress since 2016. Now I have to set up a redirect from my domain.

  The subscription was owned by a different WordPress.com account. Your account, @adamdork, is actually an Editor. The subscriptions are owned by a different WordPress.com account. If you’re the owner, you have a different WordPress.com account that you need to log into to be able to manage the subscription (which expired).
