Adding my podcast to my website
-
I have a website that i’d like to add a new page to – that page will contain my podcast which is hosted at podbean – how can i setup a podcast page that will accept the import?
I’m using powerpress now and it just adds links on my posts page but i want a dedicated page for the podcast

Hi there,
how can i setup a podcast page that will accept the import?
I’m not sure — what’s in the import? Also, could you send a link to the page you’re having trouble with?
If you have a separate host, please note these forums are for the sites hosted and managed here at WordPress.com:
For help with an individual WordPress installation you’re running with another host, you’ll want to use the correct forums:

Thank you! Here’s the link to the “Insights” page of the site – you’ll see on the right margin is where the podcast episodes live.

I’m wanting to create a page, like Insights, called Podcast where the podcast content can live by itself.

Hi Dave,
What’s in the right margin on that site is not a podcast. It’s just a Recent Posts widget that lists the most recently published posts on your site. That’s a standard widget included in the WordPress software:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-posts-widget/
The actual podcast is the posts themselves – they’re just regular WordPress posts with an embedded audio file, and I’m guessing you’re using a podcasting plugin to create a podcast feed you can submit to iTunes, Google, Spotify, etc.
The exact same thing is possible on WordPress.com – you can export your content from that site by creating an export file at WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export and then import it to a new WordPress.com site at My Site ->Tools ->Import.
For your audio files to be imported you’ll need to be on at least the Personal Plan as that plan is required to upload audio files to the WordPress.com media library.
You don’t need a plugin to create a podcast feed on WordPress.com, as we have that feature already built in:

So if I’m understanding this, I would need to upload audio files directly to my site to get a “podcast page” as opposed to relying on the PowerPress plugin…
I don’t see a Podcast option under settings / writing so I guess that I don’t have the proper subscription?
So no ability to make a separate page just for the podcast using a plugin?
Thanks – and sorry for the naivety of my articulation :-)

I see the Podcasing option for both your sites, at https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/davebookbinder.wordpress.com and https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/davebookbinderdotcom.wordpress.com respectively.
Uploading audio files directly to your site’s media library requires the Personal Plan, but the podcasting feature itself is available to free sites, and you can also add audio files to your posts by embedding them from other services.
No plugin is needed to do this on WordPress.com.

WordPress.com uses a category you assign to your posts to identify the podcast posts and generate the podcast feed. You can also add that category to your menu to create a category page – a page similar to the main posts feed for your site, but containing only posts from that specific category, in this case the category you use for your podcast posts.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I seem to be having the same issues with wnsp.com.
I can’t find the podcasting option in my menu.

Hi there @davidschultz3,
I checked your site and it appears you’re in the wrong forum. Your site is using the open source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. Since we do not have access to self-hosted WordPress.org sites, we are unable to provide any direct assistance to your issue. I would reach out to your site host for help.
If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:
Thanks!
