Adding new learning site to established WP site

    I am a new learner and want to become reasonably skilled at adding to our current and well established WP site which was constructed by professional WPO developers.

    My question is: If I choose to build an additional and hopefully useful section to the original site during my own learning of WP would it be easy enough to add this to the established site when it is good enough?
