Adding new user

I am trying to add a new user to my site. However, after the person gets the invitation, it looks as they they will have to go to WordPress and create their own blog account in order to log in to mine.
This is very confusing. Is there not a straightforward way I can invite someone without them having to create their own blog account in order to edit mine?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are correct, in order for someone to accept an invitation to your site requires them to create a free username account. They can’t make edits to your site without being logged in (else, how can we determine it’s the person you actually invited? The link in the invitation email can only be used to accept the invitation; it’s not an automatic login link for someone to access your site at any time), and they can’t log in if they don’t have an account.
It’s not necessary to create a blog in order to create a free username account. When they click the link in the invitation email that takes them to the signup flow, there’s an option to create an account without creating a site as well.
