Adding or Transferring a Domain

Hi there! I’m looking for some best practice advice for adding/transferring a domain to my existing blog.

I have an old WordPress.com blog that I no longer use but which has 2 posts that are still valuable to me as they continue to bring in traffic.
I also own a new domain (with a different provider, OVH) and want to use that to create my new website. I want to keep those 2 posts and move them to the new domain.

I understand I can redirect my entire wordpress.com blog for $13/year. However, I’d like the 2 blog posts to redirect to their own new URLs, is it possible to specify this? The rest of the site can redirect to the new homepage.

Alternatively, I don’t mind transferring the new domain name over to WordPress from OVH and hosting everything at WordPress. (I understand I will need a paid plan to do this). Does this option redirect the old blog posts to new urls automatically? If so I would then just redesign the blog with its new domain name, keeping those two posts.

Thank you in advance for your advice and for letting me know of any potential pitfalls here.

The simplest option is to map or transfer that new domain through OVH to your free WordPress.com blog. This way, whenever someone finds those posts they’ll automatically land at your new site. The two will be connected. Does that make sense?

Yes, you need a plan to do this. The domain has to be 60 days old to be eligible for a transfer. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
