Adding URL link to Image widget to make image clickable

I would like to add an Image widget to the footer, and make the image clickable to take readers to my other blog. I used to have this feature but removed it a while back (when I closed down a previous blog). Now that I have a new second blog, I’d like to put a clickable Image widget back in the footer, but try as I might, I can’t add a URL to either the image itself or the caption text. I can see that there is a link option for the Image widget, but it didn’t work. I’m probably missing something obvious. Can anyone help, please? (Hope this makes sense.)

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi,

for this one, try adding an image block. Once you select an image, you’ll see a link icon above it. Click that, and you can insert a URL.

If that isn’t working, please share more details. Thanks!

Thanks once again for your reply! As with my other widget issues, transforming the Image widget to a Widget Group allowed me to add a title above (rather than a caption below) to my image. When I used the “Edit link” button to insert my other site’s URL, I used the http:// version (not www.), and I removed any text in the other two fields (one said something like “opener/non opener”). After enabling the “Open in new window” option, I made sure to click on the “Apply” arrow — something I may have neglected to do before. (So yeah, probably dumb user error.) Then, “Save changes”. It worked this time, and all is well. Cheers!
