Adding video to new posts has changed

  my new post format has changed. I used to be able to choose from different icons, i.e.: text, photos, videos, but now I can only post text and photos. Why did the format change on my new post page? Can I get the old one back?

  Taking your questions in reverse order, no you can not revert to the old way. The format of the editor changed because staff are tinkering with the New Post button. You can add video and other media easily via the dashboard Add New Post page, as always, so I recommend you use that. Dashboard->Posts->Add New.

  Thanks, Raincoaster. It’s too bad that the editors took away that easy-to-use tool.
  I went to my Dashboard>Posts>Add New, and couldn’t figure out how to get a video to appear on my blog stream. All I get is an URL address that takes the reader to the YouTube/Vimeo page.
  Do you (or anyone else) know what I’m doing wrong?

  Thanks, Timethief. I did follow those directions. At least I thought I did, but all I get is an active URL for the Vimeo video and not the actual video on my blog, as I did before with the other format with all the icons. I’m just not seeing something. I guess I’ll have to keep trying. Thanks again.

  What the last 3 days has made clear to me is bloggers who have been using the https://wordpress.com/post/ lack basic blogging skills, and don’t have a clue about how to use the software, and the support docs. What sad state of affairs this is. :(

  TimeThief, I’m afraid you may be right. At least you are when it comes to me. Maybe I should switch to Wix. It’s more intuitive and not so difficult.

  TimeTheif, I think I figured it out. I was trying to apply the directions for Vimeo to a YouTube video. I’m going to get the hang of this someday.
