adding wordpress email to mail app on macbook

My website with wordpress has an email address associated with the account.
I am trying to add this email account to my Mail app on my MacBook but after several attempts it is not allowing me to do so. It keeps saying that the username is incorrect.Can you please help me fix this problem?
