Additional Domain Hosting

  Hi There
  I need to register a new domain (from another provider as WordPress don’t do .com.au domains) and I just wanted to know if there are any additional hosting fees with WordPress or can I simply point it to my current WordPress account?

  Hi there,

  Connecting a domain registered elsewhere requires a process called domain mapping, and that needs one of our paid plans:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Hosting itself is free on WordPress.com, though. You pay for additional features to your site that’s included in a plan, including the ability to connect a domain registered elsewhere. But you don’t pay for hosting, and should you at some point decide to cancel your plan and disconnect your domain, we’ll still be hosting your site at the free WordPress.com address we assign you when you create a site.
