Admin account stuck in AI Website Builder / Upgrade loop – cant access dashboard

  Include:

  • Site: l00204897-hquie.wordpress.com
  • Plan: Free
  • Admin user
  • All wp-admin URLs redirect to upgrade prompt
  • ai-website-builder-trial appears in the URL
  • Tested multiple browsers and direct dashboard URLs
  • “Manage sites” also returns to the upgrade prompt

  The WordPress.com AI Website Builder free tier functions as a full-access trial. You can use the AI to generate layouts and content completely for free without a credit card. However, you must upgrade to a paid plan (such as Personal, Premium, or Business) to publish your AI-generated site live on the internet.

  All wp-admin URLs redirect to upgrade prompt

  The AI Website Builder is available as a trial on Free site plans. While it lets you design your site for free, accessing the full dashboard (wp-admin, posts, settings) requires upgrading to a paid plan. The redirect you’re seeing is part of that trial flow.

  You have two options:

  1. Upgrade to a paid plan to publish your AI-built site and unlock the full dashboard.
  2. Create a new site without the AI Builder at https://wordpress.com/start – this gives you a standard free site with full access to the dashboard, posts, pages, and settings right away.

  If you go with option 2, you can still customize your site using the block editor and free themes. I hope that helps with some clarification!
