  I’m unable to add a new user to my account. There’s a single area to add a password but I keep receiving an error that my passwords don’t match.

  Instead your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. The good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through your host, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site.
