cannot access existing site admin. adding wp-admin to url (do i use http or https?) returns blank page. Somehow I am logged into *something wp related but not sure where I am (beginner’s page or what?) GAWD i hate this.

What is the URL of the site you are referring to?
I do not see any sites connected to the account you are contacting us from. Is it a WordPress.com hosted site?

Ahh, okay. Sites hosted through other providers are quite different from sites on our servers.
And since your site is not here on our servers, we don’t have access to help you regain access. But we may be able to point you in the right direction.
First contact your host to be sure you have backups and can access the hosting side of your site, then read all of these these instructions from WordPress.org to determine which method you want to use to regain access to your installation:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/As long as you can log into your hosting account, you should be able to regain access. If you need more help, head to to the forums for self-hosted sites at https://wordpress.org/support
