admin page 403 error and et-safe-mode folder

I’m in the process of debugging a 403 error, going through the suggested debugging processes, none of which are working yet.

There’s an et-safe-mode folder still in place under a wp-content > mu-plugins folder. I’m guessing it’s in place from my having entered a wordpress troubleshooting mode at some point that I forgot to cancel. So I’m thinking the web site could still be in normal mode for viewers, but in troubleshooting mode for me.

I need to know if that series of folders can manually be removed and what they accomplish while they’re in place.

    Thanks!
