advice on plans
-
Dear WordPress,
I was about to upload a few photos to my latest blog post and received and error message: You have used your space allocation of 3GB. Please delete some files to upload more files.I would like to discuss plan options. This is strictly a personal blog with kiddie pics, it’s not a business website, I don’t expect traffic except from grandparents and relatives since it is not listed publicly. The driver of needing space is pics.
Can you recommend the lowest cost plan for such a need. For example, do you recommend I stay with wordpress.com and upgrade from 3GB to the next increment? Or move to my own hosted domain with unlimited space, leveraging transition help?
I noticed I didn’t see the annual payment in my Purchase History from June 2020 – could it be that I missed a payment? Or did wordpress plan options change recently?
Thank you kindly.

Closing this topic, I received help from WordPress.
– There is an $8/month “Premium” plan option for up to 13GB
– There is a $25/month “Business” plan option for up to 200GBSince my personal website is around 50GB, it unfortunately falls in between the two – so there is a big jump betweem $96/year and $300/year.
Thank you all!!

One thing to consider:
Are you resizing your photos before uploading? Websites almost never need the full resolution image from today’s phones/cameras. The files are really large and you can quickly eat up storage space. Resizing images to 2000 pixels on the longest side should be enough for most any general website use.
