You can see info regarding affiliate links and WordPress.com sites here:

We have export instructions here:
However, it will all depend on the site builder that you are trying to move to if they will import that file. I suggest asking any prospective site builder if they can import from WordPress.com prior to making any big changes.

I’ve seen that link and read every word 5x. I just want to know if I can put up affiliate banners and links. If yes, how can I put them up. I don’t find that link helpful.
-
Generally, no. Banner advertising of any sort is not allowed. If you are looking to advertise with banners, you may want to find a different website platform.

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:
Aside from WordAds, this page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
…and the affiliate page I posted previously spell out the general WordPress.com advertising policies. The short answer is that if advertising is an important to your site plans, you may want to look at migrating to a self-hosted WordPress.org site (or another platform) where you will have more options.

I thought I had a self hosted website. It’s aggravating to be directed back to the links you’re sending. I’ve read them and clicked, need more help to ask questions in this forum. So being directed back to those links which were not enough information or not explained in a way I could understand doesn’t help.
I would like to make money off this blog. I’m just asking how can I do that. I thought my site was self hosted. If it’s not, can you tell me? -
celebfanblog.com points to http://celebfanblogdotcom.wordpress.com/ and is a WordPress.com site. It is not self-hosted.
The short answer is, if you are looking to use your site as a money making venture, you are probably better off switching away from WordPress.com. The options for making money on WordPress.com are limited to the WordAds program and text-based affiliate links. If you want to run banner ads or 3rd party ad networks, you will not be able to do that on WordPress.com.
