After I changed domain names why did I lose featured header images?
-
I changed my domain from denisehill.wordpress.com to deltaeng214.wordpress.com
I had featured header images on almost every page; however, when the site was moved to the new URL, I got a static header on every page. It was the one I uploaded for the home (blog) page.
When I look at the page on the dashboard, I can see the uploaded, featured header image. The image is also still located in the media library.
I tried deleting and re-adding the image, and while on the dashboard all the steps seem to happen, the image does not change on the site. I have tried refresh and different browsers (I read this in one of the forums). I also tried resetting to the WordPress header images and then uploading my own images again. I also tried uploading images from my computer vs. from the WordPress media library. The image will not change.
I did not change the theme. The theme is Ten Twenty and it supports featured header images.
If I create a brand new page and set a featured header image, it works – it just will not work for any of the pages that I carried over from the original domain name.
Thank you!

Howdy,
It looks like your featured images are too small to be used as featured header images.
Could you make sure to use images that are at least 940 pixels in width and 198 pixels in height?

Thank you for the prompt response.
So, I’m guessing the theme has changed to only accept images of this exact header scale? These are the same images I had before and they worked (some were stretched, which was fine by me), so when I changed domain names, I’m guessing there was an upgrade to a newer version perhaps that now does not allow these images to be used – ?
Bit of a bummer, but good to know.
Thanks again.

That’s right.
The images were initially stretched because of a bug. Since the bug was fixed, default header images will be used if the featured image isn’t large enough.
That way, we can help make sure your blog is always looking its best. :-)
