All my followers have disappeared

Hi, I changed my blog address a couple of days ago and suddenly my entire follower list has disappeared. It’s possible no one could see my subsequent posts because I noticed some known followers have had to re-follow. What’s going on? I have changed my blog address more than 5 times in 7 years and have never had this problem.

Hi @kulungugu, that’s odd. Do you remember about how many followers you had before? Let us know; we’ll dig into this to see what we can find.
Also, were any of them through social media? I noticed you don’t have any social media accounts connected on this site.

Noting too we have occasionally seen a bug where your followers do still exist, but are not displayed after a site rename. In this case they would still see your posts.

@supanova, some bloggers who followed or re-followed recently have also disappeared. I can’t really remember all their names but one was I think “The Godly Chic Diaries.”

When looking at things I do not see any new followers (just yourself):

staff-zinnia, all followers including any new followers has disappeared. I do get notifications on wordpress mobile when there is a new follower but it disappears moments later and the followers list shows zero. I know the difference between the stats and views page.

@democracyinghana thank you; you mentioned you saw someone had refollowed. Can you send that username?
If you saw someone refollow but their name does not show up at all now, we’d like to investigate that a bit.
Noting with the one bug you’ll show zero followers even though the followers are actually still there, so if that is the issue that would explain why you saw a follower sign up but they no longer show on the list.

Hi there,
This is an issue that sometimes happen after a site address change. Your followers are not lost, and if you view your site’s feed in the Reader you’ll see the full follower count there:
https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/93840539
And all those followers are still seeing your posts in the Reader, and receiving email notifications if they are subscribed. They just aren’t reflecting in your follower count for the site itself.
I’ve reported this to our Reader team, but we’re not yet sure what causes this particular bug, so I also cannot give you a timeline on when it might be fixed.

I just viewed my site’s feed in the reader and it teads 0. I also clicked your link… same thing.

If you go to the Reader feed @kokkieh gave you (https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/93840539), you can see your followers count on the top right corner. Here’s a screenshot:
Our Reader team is working on a fix and we’ll update you as soon as we hear from them.

Ok, the screenshot tells me there are 477 followers. I still can’t see the list though (both through desktop and WordPress mobile) but I hope the issue is resolved soon. Thanks.

Thanks, @democracyinghana. We don’t have a great fix for this, but we’ll update you if we’re able to sort this out. Do know in the meantime your readers are still seeing everything.
