All my posts disappeared while changing themes

  I was changing themes and almost all of my posts disappeared. Help. What do I do?

  Hi there,

  I see that you have 7 published blog posts on your blog, and they are all appearing for me on your blog’s front page here: http://smoothmoveme.wordpress.com/

  Is that the blog you were working on? If there are still missing posts, can you let me know some of the titles of those posts? That will help me investigate this for you.

  Hi Rachel,

  Thanks for your help. I had about 50 or so. I can’t remember their names but they were all smoothie type names. I’m sorry, but this is my public recipe collection. It also happened with my collection of cheese cake recipes (cutthecheesecake.wordpress.com) which were well over 100 and went down to 38. On that one I exported the file first. And tried re-importing it and still were missing quite a lot. On both it seems like the first ones and last ones made it. Many of the images were not correct too, so I had to go about repairing their links too. They were even missing from the site as well.

  Is there a way to restore the site to what it was before I changed templates? Just do a full backup restore? Again, thanks for your help. A lot of hours went into these sites so hopefully there’s a way to repair the damage.

  Hi there,

  Changing themes on WordPress.com only affects the blog’s appearance, not its content (such as the posts and pages), so that wouldn’t explain the missing posts on your blogs. I also don’t see any evidence in our records that large numbers of posts or pages were deleted from the blog, so I’m not sure what’s going on here.

  I checked Google to see what information about your blog had been saved there, and in Google’s cache I only found the 7 posts that are currently on your blog:

  http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:gOGWZ4vGbUMJ:smoothmoveme.wordpress.com/

  In hopes of finding a clue, I also took a look at the import file you had from your blog at cutthecheesecake.wordpress.com. However, that file only contains the posts that are currently on the blog, nothing more.

  Do you happen to have any other WordPress.com accounts where the posts could have accidentally been published on another blog? Any information like that or additional details about the missing posts could help me track them down for you.
