All of my sites are being redirected, instead of just one

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello WP,
I have 3 blogs, but need only one redirected to another WP user. Perhaps I did something wrong, but all 3 show to be redirected to the same place. I’ve tried to cancel and delete, but I get no confirmation emails that I have either made the request or that the redirect has been cancelled or refunded. Can you please help?
    Many thanks!
    Regina

Thanks so much WP, now I just need my expatriotgames.com to have the same info as reginasacre.wordpress.com and I’m all fixed!
Thank you for all your help!
    Regina

  • Hi Regina, I’d be glad to help.

The domain expatriotgames.com is currently mapped to reginasacre.wordpress.com.

Just let me know exactly what you need and I’m glad to assist.

    Thank you, Kathryn…you’re a lifesaver!
I really only need expatriotgames.com, but used reginasacre.wp.com as a way to undo my mistake. Here was my intention that went horribly wrong somewhere:
    1) Continue to personally host expatriotgames.com

    2) Transfer tiarateasociety.org to another WP user (tiarateasociety.net) to where they could be the new administrator (no longer hosted by me) but be able to use all the work I’ve done.

    3) Cancel reginasacre.wp.com

I think I’ve fallen on my sword with this one, so I yield to the WP goddess on this one! ;).

  • Let me make sure if I understand:

    1) Continue to personally host expatriotgames.com

Do you mean that you want to point this domain to a self-hosted site?

If so, you can log into your domain management area to update the name servers for expatriotgames.com and point them to your host. Right now, the domain is using the WordPress.com name servers. If you have another host, you’ll need to point the name servers to the name servers provided by your host. We have a full guide to changing name servers.

    2) Transfer tiarateasociety.org to another WP user (tiarateasociety.net) to where they could be the new administrator (no longer hosted by me) but be able to use all the work I’ve done.

We can transfer tiarateasociety.org to another administrator on that site, but currently you are the only admin on the site tiarateasociety.wordpress.com. If there’s another user to whom you’d like to transfer the site, could you please first add them as an admin to the site, and let me know their user name?

    3) Cancel reginasacre.wp.com

Since the site reginasacre.wordpress.com currently has a domain upgrade on it, you won’t be able to delete the site. A custom domain needs to be connected to an active site so you’ll still have access to the domain manager. Instead, you could set the site to Private so no one but you will have access to it, under Settings > Reading.

    Hi again Kathryn :)
    1) regarding expatriotgames, I want to continue to keep it with WP as you guys do a fantastic job!

    2) The new WP user that I would like to have tiarateasociety.org and its information, her user name is: evalynnbishop3. I didn’t want her to have to recreate all of the pages and posts, so if there is a way to transfer all the info, but not be associated with my username, that would be ideal.

    3) Understood. I will keep reginasacre.wp.com and mark it private as you suggest.

    Thank you for your patience!
    Regina

  • I’ve added evalynnbishop3 as an administrator on the site tiarateasociety.wordpress.com.

Did you also want to transfer ownership of the domain name tiarateasociety.org to her as well? If so, please let me know and I can take care of that for you.

If you want to remove yourself from the tiarateasociety.wordpress.com site, you can do that under Users, by hovering over your username, clicking “Remove,” and following the prompts.

Yes please, if you can transfer ownership of the domain (tiarateasociety.org) to her would be perfect! I will remove myself as you suggest from tiarateasociety.wp.com.

Thanks a big bunch for hanging in, Kathryn!
    Regina

  • My pleasure!

I’ve transferred the domain upgrade to evalynnbishop3 as requested. She can now log into the domain manager to update all the contact details to her own instead of yours:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-contact-information

I also went ahead and transferred ownership of the entire tiarateasociety.wordpress.com site to evalynnbishop3 as well.

If you need anything else, just let me know.

Sorry, Kathryn…one last niggly bit–is there a way for tiarateasociety.org and tiarateasociety.net to display the same info? The .net needs to look the same (have the same info) as the .org. Is that possible?

  • You could certainly map tiarateasociety.net to http://tiarateasociety.wordpress.com in addition to tiarateasociety.org. That way, both domains would point to the same site.

Currently, tiarateasociety.net is mapped to tiarateasocietydotnet.wordpress.com.

To make that switch, the user who purchased tiarateasociety.net, evalynnbishop3, can log into the dashboard and head over to Store > My Upgrades, here:

    https://tiarateasocietydotnet.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

She can then click “Transfer to another site” under the domain name, and follow the instructions. Since she’s now the owner of tiarateasociety.wordpress.com she should be able to transfer the domain upgrade to it.

If she runs into any trouble, she can feel free to contact us.
