All visitors to my site must click this box that says they know my site a danger

“can’t verify the security certificate”
“this is an untrusted site”
“you are advised that this site is untrustworthy”When people click links off WP to connect to my site they are warned that my site is not a good place to go.
Which is both embarrassing and not the best way to develop community trust.
I’m sure this is some option in “read” that I have not clicked correctly or some domain registration thing that I did not do correctly.
Thank you for your time and knowledge. You are very kind to reply.
Have a beautiful day, thanks for helping me get to where I need to go.

Hey Harold!
This definitely isn’t something you did wrong on your side. This occurs when a visitor to your site tries to load your page over an HTTPS connection. Basically, the browser is looking for a certificate from artmadefood.com. Instead, it sees a certificate from your default WordPress.com address (artmadefood.wordpress.com). The mismatch triggers an error.
Fortunately, most users are going to be visiting your site over an HTTP connection unless they’ve set their browser up to prefer a secure connection (most haven’t). There are a few ways around this:
- You could have them set an exception within their browser to ignore the certificate mismatch. When they click through the error, the browser sets up a temporary exception that is refreshed when he clears his cache. You can setup a permanent one within your browser settings.
- Avoid using an HTTPS prefix when visiting your site
- Avoid inserting HTTPS links into your site. So, when you create a link in a post, you will want to use an HTTP prefix.
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible for us to issue a certificate that makes it possible for visitors to view your site over an HTTPS connection without first setting up an exception.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thank you for your help, I almost think I understand.
Be well, you are very kind,
Harold

Hi Harold,
Not a problem! Please let me know if you need more clarification as I’ll be happy to explain further.

It’s definitely not a problem on your side! To avoid the error in the future, you’ll just need to stop using https:// prefixes on your URLs. That will ensure that your visitors do not receive that error message!
