Allow logged-out users to use HTTP?

    I’ve got a self-hosted site without public account creation, I really don’t care about SSL except for when I’m logged in. There’s no current benefit to ‘making’ logged-out users browse the site over HTTPS, it just risks the site ‘going down’ if I forget to renew the cert in time.

    But I, obviously, can’t just make the site run entirely on HTTP, because I am usually logged in, writing posts, and that would put my credentials at risk for hackers to vandalize the site.

    How can I allow logged-out users to use plain HTTP without putting privileged Author credentials at risk when drafting posts at the local coffee shop?

    Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.
