Already have a domain and website on WordPress and want to completely redo and update website

I want to create a brand new word press website, while using the domain I have on the existing account. Then I hope to deactivate the current website and switch to a brand new one. I found domain mapping, but I think it only works for domains that are under a different website such as godaddy, etc.

I’m not seeing any WordPress.com sites associated with the WordPress.com use account you are posting from. What is the URL of the existing site you are trying to switch? We’ll be happy to take a look.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I made a separate account to search everything out before making any official changes. The account I have already is for Rolling Green Turf Care, lawn care specialist that are located in Barrington, IL. We have a website made on WordPress, but we want to completely redo and update the website with an entire new layout. Is there a way to pull that domain to the new website after I completely redo it? Will there be any time in between when the website could potentially be down? We hope to avoid that as much as possible.

Now I am looking at the account, and it suggests to update the website with the new coding update. I think this is something we could do and then update the website from there? Without creating a completely new website but adding more things. The problem now is that we do not understand the coding because it is so old. Is there a way to set up an appointment with an agent to talk to directly before going forwards with this idea?
