AMAZON AFFILIATE STORE LINK INSTALL
-
Hello, I have downloaded WP AmASIN – the Amazon Affiliate Shop plugin so that I can put a widget onto my site. I can’t get it to work. The installation instructions say upload the plug-in to wp-content/plugins directory. I tried that (on the end of the WordPress URL) – and that got me to you. R
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

BTW – I’m doing this in order to post a link for the purchase of the book that the site is about. It’s only about offering and selling one product. if there is a widget that simply allows me to paste the HTML code from Amazon (that they have given me), I think the problem would be solved… but, when I paste the code into the text/html widget it does not get read – so only the title, which I have typed in, shows up with no link / image below it.

Hi there, it isn’t possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Somewhere among their options, Amazon should provide a plain HTML affiliate link, which can be used here on WordPress.com. You may need to search around a bit as they provide a lot of different codes and only the very plainest link will work here on WordPress.com, since we don’t allow iframes, Flash, or JavaScript code.
Feel free to paste the code you’re using in a Pastebin – http://pastebin.com/ – and add a link here. I’ll be glad to have a look.

Thank you Kathrynwp – I’ll look around on amazon for the plain HTML link (although I thought that was what I was trying). Good to know the specifics as I head back. I’ll let you know how it works out.
