Amend attachment ID
-
I would like to know whether it is possible to override an attachment ID. I currently have a header image larger than the default dimensions, and now that the “skip cropping and publish” button is no longer available (for some strange reason, as it was previously available on the Digg 3 theme), I cannot replace with a new image of the same dimensions.
Is it therefore possible to upload the new image, saving it as the same name as current image and have it override the attachment ID?
This I believe, is the only way I can get my new header image up, without having to change my theme which is most definitely not an option.
Thanks in advance

Hi there – is it possible you haven’t uploaded a header graphic for a while? Last November, a system-wide change was made that omits the “Skip Cropping, Publish Image as Is” button for themes that don’t support headers with flexible width or height.
Is it therefore possible to upload the new image, saving it as the same name as current image and have it override the attachment ID?
This isn’t possible, since the system appends a number to uploaded images with the same name, to avoid overwriting. For example, header.png, header1.png, header2.png.
Would you mind uploading the graphic you’d like to use as your new header to your Media Library so I can do some testing with it? Just let me know its name or provide a link so I can find it. Thanks.

I just noticed that you’ve already been getting help from another Happiness Engineer – I’ll let you continue with him here:
