An ad renders Wattsupwiththat.com site unusable
-
I understand that the WordPress has to make money somehow. But a new obnoxious ad makes the popular website Wattsupwiththat.com unusable in the last couple of days. It forcibly repositions the webpage every 15 seconds or so to display itself prominently on the top of the screen. If you want to look at anything else, it will be yanked away in 15 seconds. It happens both with Microsoft Edge and with Google Chrome. After a while, Chrome runs out of memory.
By the way, there is an ‘about these ads’ notification on the top of the ad. It directs you to complain at a WordPress support email address, which no one at WordPress ever reads. And it also promises a live chat here – I could not find it.

Hi there,
As you implied, we display advertisements on WordPress.com sites, in order to keep free features free. We try to make the ads discreet and to only run them in limited places.
To entirely eliminate ads on the blog, the owner does have the option to purchase a WordPress.com Premium or Business plan. You can read more about what is included in our plans here:
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
