An experience that generated a suggestion

I managed to create an excellent block in Telex that displays the posts with the most recent comments and, at the same time, some of those comments. See a screenshot:

With this block, any website can be transformed into a kind of forum.

I installed it on one of my sites, but blogs with plugins suffer certain modifications that I don’t like. One example is the comment form, which no longer has the option to use blocks.

Couldn’t a block like this be added to the normal WP.com experience?

Couldn’t the WP.com comment form be maintained on sites with plugins?

After another comment on the older post, it appears in first place, as is common in forums:

  • Hi there, thanks for reaching out and sharing this feature suggestion and feedback! Using a block to display posts sorted by their most recent comments is a clever way to create a forum-like experience.

Regarding your observations about the comment form’s behavior changing: Activating a paid plan by installing plugins changes the underlying environment of your site. After this activation, some WordPress.com-native features (including the richer comment editing experience) aren’t fully compatible in that environment. It’s a known limitation that our team is aware of, but I can understand the frustration of having the behavior change based on this plugin activation.

It is worth noting that we do offer a Latest Comments block, which displays recent comments from across your site with options to show avatars, dates, and excerpts. I realize that it doesn’t quite replicate the forum-style layout you’ve built for displaying posts, but it may be worth exploring as a native option.

In the meantime, thank you again for taking the time to share your feature request. We’ll keep your suggestions in mind for a forum-like block as we continue to make further improvements to our platform.
