An image with a transparent back ground has a white back ground when it has been uploaded

I’ve up loaded an image (.png) it is transparent but when it is on the page it has a white back ground with a visible box around it. Link to side below (its the small boxes between the paragraphs)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have worked it out! Under the widgets menu at the side it is possible to specify the dimensions of the picture. (I had tried this I just hadn’t put a small enough number in!)

Sorry this was another problem I had and resolved. The problem with the transparency is still relevant. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there,
I just checked the images on the page you mentioned, and they don’t have a white background. However, those images do have a shadow — that shadow is an effect added by the theme’s design, and it makes it look like the images have a solid background.
If you’d like to customize your theme’s design, you can do that with the Custom Design features included in the WordPress.com Premium plan. Those features include Custom CSS, which can be used to remove that shadow and make other changes to your theme’s appearance.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hello,
Thank you very much for answering my question so clearly. That makes sense although it is of course very annoying!
