Another user is connected to my domain name

  Hi!
  I bought my domain name from another wordpress member, but now I can’t connect it to my own site because the domain is still connected to the old wordpress site. I don’t have access to it, if the previous owner doesn’t disconnect it, is there a some other way to connect the domain I now own, to my account?

  Hi there,

  If the domain is registered via another WordPress.com account, the owner of that account is still the owner of the domain as far as we are concerned, regardless of any private agreements or transactions you might have had with them, and only they have the ability to transfer ownership of the domain to your account.

  They need to follow the process here to transfer ownership of the domain to you:

  Hey again,

  The domain was transferred a few months ago and I now have the domain with GoDaddy, even though, when I try to manually connect it, as instructed here:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  I get this error message :
  “planbouffe.ca is already connected to a WordPress.com site.”

  I suppose it’s because the domain is somehow still connected to the WordPress account of it’s previous owner. I tried reaching out to this person so they can disconnect it or something… but what if I don’t hear back. Is there any other way?
