Any way to find out who tried to break into my account?
-
I received an SMS from WordPress with a 2-step verification code, at a time when I hadn’t been trying to log in. That means that someone had tried to access my account. Can I see the logs of where that access attempt came from?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While I can see how that would make one curious, that is not information that we provide.

Hi RootJosh, thanks for the speedy reply. I am sure you have a good reason for not normally giving out that information, but I think you will see this is a special case.
A year ago, I published an exposé about a convicted cracker-saboteur who is now doing black-hat reputation management for many allegedly corrupt Venezuelan businessmen. The article is here.
Since then, I have faced ongoing online harassment including the publication of defamatory blogs containing stolen family photos, spear-phishing attacks, and the addition of my personal e-mail address to spam lists. The “reputation manager” has registered at least three domains with my name.
I need to know whether this attack may be related to this harassment.
I would prefer to continue this conversation off-line. My e-mail address is on my blog. Thanks.

A subpoena or court order will pretty much guarantee cooperation. Short of that, though, you might be out of luck unless you can get the police too make the inquiry for you.
