Appearance, Oxygen theme

  Hello! I adopted the Oxygen theme, but I can’t seem to arrange the page the way the sample template looks. Specifically, I want my Welcome page to be a static front page with a feature image slider at the top, showing the cover of our zine. I want it to extend across the page as it does in the template, right below the primary menu and adjacent (right of) the secondary black menu. Nothing I try seems to work. When I set it as a featured image it comes up smaller (470), beneath the heading on the page. If I try to add multiple image, they all come up as small thumbnails, with no dominant image. It’s very confusing. Help?

  Only the showcase page template has an image slider. Please take a look at this page as it explains all the features of the Oxygen theme.
