Are all premium themes "Search Engine Optimized"?

I’m just starting out, and want to purchase a theme. A friend suggested studiopress and their genesis framework, but honesty, I can’t find a theme I like.
I’m looking for super clean, white, with customizable header, and definitely with SEO.

    Thanks,
    Isabel

I don’t think your friend understands the difference between WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG.

Almost all the themes here are SEO optimized. The exceptions are those specifically designed for photoblogs, which tend to have nothing but an image and a title on the main page. As long as you pick a theme that displays some text and tags/categories on the main page as well as images, you’ll be fine.

Yeeks, I guess I don’t either. Is dot com for businesses and dot org for people, organizations, non-profits?
I’m trying to start a small for-profit company.

    Thanks!

    Nevermind,
    I found this: “About WordPress.org

On this site you can download and install a software script called WordPress. To do this you need a web host who meets the minimum requirements and a little time. WordPress is completely customizable and can be used for almost anything. There is also a service called WordPress.com which lets you get started with a new and free WordPress-based blog in seconds, but varies in several ways and is less flexible than the WordPress you download and install yourself.”

Which explains enough. Thanks for the answer!!

If you want to do ecommerce or advertising, you want WordPress.ORG. If you want to blog, whether for business (non-affiliate) or pleasure, WordPress.com is easier and more stable.

I think I’ll start with a blog on wordpress.com and then a bit later do the e-commerce thing.
    Thank you so much.

You’re welcome. That’s the way a lot of people start, and it’s easiest. I recommend the custom domain option, though, so that when you do move to independent hosting it’s seamless.

    Ooh, wait, one more question.
You said almost all the themes have SEO, except the photo ones…
Would that include the free ones like 2011?
I like ThemeMin but if they’re about the same as far as SEO, I’d rather go with free…
