Are our published posts lost when we add new themes to WordPress?

  • They are not. Post, pages, and other content is not deleted when themes are switched.

This of it as changing the color of a house. The appearance is different, but all the contents inside the house are still the same.

    Hi,

I just changed my theme (was trying something new) and my original home page picture and written material got completely erased (along with any comments or likes I received).

Is there any way to get my original home page data back again? The website is reknutson.wordpress.com.

    Thanks :)

  • @rknutson1104,

Your home page was not erased. It was just switched to draft – with some of our newer themes, if you activate the theme that theme’s home page template is automatically set to your site’s front page to make the overall theme setup easier, but it can cause some confusion if you already had a home page set up.

Go to My Site ->Site ->Pages and re-publish your page (I’m guessing you’re speaking of Life’s Ramblings?). Then go to My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Homepage settings to set it as the front page again.

    Thank you, that worked! :)
