Are participants that write on the website tracked?
-
Dear WordPress,
Can the participants of the website be tracked in any way? IP address? Contact information? Email address? Is there a way to turn off the tracking mechanism so the responses would be anonymous?
Thanks, Heide

Hi there,
There is no possible way we could track visitors’ contact information or emails unless the visitor willingly provides it to us. We don’t ask for that information for any visitor who simply views your site, and it’s not information that someone’s browser can reveal to any website.
We do log the IPs of site visitors, and we log IPs and emails for people who comment on your site. This logging is done in order to provide our services like site stats and comment spam filtering to you, and as such cannot be disabled.
You can find detailed information about what information we collect about your site visitors and how we use that information here:

Do you mean comments? If so, there’s no way to comment anonymously.
You can change your site’s discussion settings so that someone doesn’t have to be logged in, and don’t have to provide a valid email address in order to comment, but IP addresses are still logged in order for our spam filtering service to work.
