Aspect ratios in image gallery

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to add photos to the image gallery on my WordPress site and finding that often when viewing the images in the gallery they appear in the wrong aspect ratio, even though it is set correctly. I figured this was probably because the filesize is too big, and for some images reducing the size of the image has sorted out the problem. However, for others it doesn’t and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what file size appears okay – e.g. some that are more than 200kb appear correctly, while others that I’ve reduce to less than 100kb don’t. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • What is the URL of the site with the problem?

    Thanks for responding. It’s http://www.gaptoothmusic.co.uk/gallery/press-photos/.

Weirdly, some of the ones that were a problem now aren’t today even though I haven’t changed anything since I last viewed them. But others are still squished horizontally.

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.

Please post in the self-hosted WordPress forums instead for help, or if you’re using a specific plugin for those galleries rather than the built-in gallery block, contact support for that plugin directly:
