I’ve registered with wordpress, but have chosen a blog. I’ts more of a website that I want. How do I change this?
Ons the website – I would like 4 categories. 1. to upload different stories written (thus all writing with subcategories). 2. Pictures. 3. Receipes (images and text in different subcategories). 4. Publications. Can I use any template for this?

Most any Theme will do what you want here – you assign different “Categories” to the Posts – such as Recipes, Pictures, etc – yes you can have sub-categories
You can use a Custom Menu in most themes or easier just put a Category Widget in the sidebar to help sort things
