Author Name in Post and Number of Lines Seen

My blog is currently running the Fjords04 theme.
I have two questions:
1. Is there any way that I can have the author’s name visible on the main page with the posts that they make? We have about 15 authors, and unless people sign their messages, there is no way to clearly tell who has written what.
2. Also, is there any way to limit how many lines of a post are shown on the front page, and then perhaps add a “Read more” button after that?

1) If you use some themes, they have it built in. If you don’t, you can use the author’s name as a tag or category, or have them type it in like a byline. Or use the Author’s Widget.
2) Yes, put it in by hand OR use Hemingway or (I believe) Blix.

Ah thank you. I’ve changed to the Digg 3 column theme that has the author’s name standard. The “more message” button is helpful, but is there any way to have that set as a default for all posts?
