Autoplay Vimeo on wordpress
-
I have embeded a Vimeo into this blog post: http://creativefuel.frch.com/2012/12/14/happy-holidays-2012/
And even though I have set the video to autoplay in the embed code from vimeo it still doesn’t play unless it is clicked on wordpress.
I followed this tutorial to activate the autoplay settings but it didn’t work: http://wordpressdesignshop.com/how-to-autoplay-vimeo-video-in-wordpress.html
Is there another way I can do this?
Any help would be appreciated – thanks!

Hi there – those instructions will only work on self-hosted sites, as we don’t allow video iframes on WordPress.com, only the shortcodes.
It’s not possible to auto-play Vimeo videos on WordPress.com sites. But that’s actually not such a bad thing, since most folks find auto-play videos on a site where it’s not expected – i.e. somewhere other than YouTube or Vimeo, for example – annoying, as they might be in a public place, or in an office, or with someone sleeping nearby, and may not want audio suddenly playing. Or, they might be preserving bandwidth.
Hope this helps and sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks Kathryn,
I totally understand the annoyance factor, and don’t disagree with you, however, in some instance s that function would be helpful. Is it the same case for videos embedded from YouTube on wordpress?
Thanks,

For YouTube you might want to try the auto-play workaround here:

Keep in mind that this is a Flash-only workaround, so it won’t work on devices that can’t run Flash, such as iPads and iPhones.
