Beep Beep Boop

what has happened? I can’t edit my blog … editing is blocked by the message “beep beep boop.” What does “Website Identification Go Daddy, Class 2 Certification Authority has identified this site as Automattic, Inc. San Francisco, CA US. This connective to the server is encrypted. Should I trust this site.” I need to access my purchased domain-named blog http://www.therespectprinciple.com and now because of this problem, I am wondering whether purchasing another domain name is a good idea in the next month for a new business … which is too bad because, until now, I’ve enjoyed using Word Press. Help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I am not having any trouble seeing http://therespectprinciple.com/. Are you still running into this issue? Be sure that you are using http and not https when troubleshooting.

    Hello rootjosh,

I have always signed in https://www.therespectprinciple.com.

I still can sign in, but when I try to edit a page or post the “Beep Beep Boop” message comes up and the screen freezes, denying me access to edit a post or page as was my intent earlier today.

    My computer will not allow me to sign in by http: only … it converts it to https;

    Need more help.

    Thanks.

  • Can you show me a screenshot of what you are seeing? Please try to include the browser address bar in the screenshot.

Here are some screenshot instructions if you are not familiar with the process:

    Take a Screenshot

I find http://snag.gy/ to be very useful for sharing screenshots. You can also upload the screenshot to your site’s media library. I will be able to see it there.

My laptop has been frozen as a result of whatever happened and caused this so no I cannot. I only have limited time on a public pc today and am only so savvy with tech problems. The error message has something to do with Automattic, Go Daddy and Microsoft … errors in certificate … all show up beside the address line, along with the image of a padlock.

  • This appears to be something going wonky with Chrome. Firefox and Safari are not reporting this issue (nor is chrome for most people).

    Hello,

    I don't use Chrome.

I was able to do a post today … but before I could the image on the screen was “Posting” in blue and then 3 blue dots … the same kind of three dots that follow the text Beep Beep Boop which also showed up on screen but did allow access … but to a different screen for input … making for a very unpleasant way to use the blog.

When I spoke with GoDaddy, he said it sounds like there is a problem with SSL Certificates from Automattic and/or Microsoft.

And can I shut off the new feature that underlines some words with a double blue line? Very, very distracting to the content.

    Thanks.

Can you show me an example of where you are seeing this? A URL or a screenshot?

  • Also, regarding the post format, you can always go through your WordPress.com site’s dashboard to make a post.

No. I'm working from public access since my laptop is still corrupted by whatever happened with the SSL certificates … showing the message Microsoft not responding.

I'm not on the same public machine today … later this week.

Yes I did but I still have no resolution on the damage done to my laptop as a result of the SSL certificate problem.

I need the SSL certificate issued resolved and my laptop restored. GoDaddy sais the issue was between WordPress/Automattic and Microsoft.

The computer repair shop isn't familiar with this kind of problem.

Should they talk with the someone from your company?

  • An SSL certificate issue on its own is just a security warning. It can stop you from getting to a site if you have your browser configured to not allow it, but it can’t harm a computer. It isn’t a virus or a program of any sort, it’s just a mismatch between the security “lock” and “key” that the browser is looking for.

Well, as it turns out, my laptop has been infected with a virus that destroyed my registry.

I have been able to post on my blog but not in the usual manner/screens that I prefer.

Enough for now … will wait till laptop is repaired and see what happens then.

    Thank you.
