beginner problem with a gridspace scheme

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I just created my blog with the name zapalenakucharka
    I’v bought the theme gridspace
    1) I have problem to change the site “about”. when I click on “edit” I can not change anything.
    2) When I click on create new post I can not see how I can choose between the chick formats which I could see on the gridspace theme (text with pictures which are posted exactly in the mode as in the gridspacedemo like Surf slideshow, Tibet gallery, Avant grade etc.)
    3) I can not see how I can rename the titels on the left side. When I put the names there is still the first possibility (about, search, archive…) and my new names (which I only wanted to rename)
Please can you help me so I can create a blog that I wanted? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    1) I have problem to change the site “about”. when I click on “edit” I can not change anything.

By default, your About page will display the information from your public profile. You can edit your public profile from your settings page here: https://wordpress.com/settings/public-profile/

If you’d like to have completely different information on your About page, you can edit the page and enter whatever you would like to have on that page instead of your public profile. When you’re done, you can click the Update button to save your changes.

    2) When I click on create new post I can not see how I can choose between the chick formats which I could see on the gridspace theme (text with pictures which are posted exactly in the mode as in the gridspacedemo like Surf slideshow, Tibet gallery, Avant grade etc.)

The layout you see on the Gridspace demo site depends on the theme’s initial setup. You can follow the instructions on the Gridspace support page to set that up — clicking on the Support button on the right there will give you detailed instructions.

You can also get help with theme-specific features directly from the theme author by posting in the Gridspace theme support forum here:

    http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/gridspace

I’d recommend publishing a few posts to try it out — that will also help me or the theme author troubleshoot any issues you run into.

    3) I can not see how I can rename the titels on the left side. When I put the names there is still the first possibility (about, search, archive…) and my new names (which I only wanted to rename)

The content in your sidebar on the left is controlled by your blog’s Widgets. You can edit those by going to Appearance > Widgets in your blog’s dashboard.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you Rachel for your help!

I’v tried to post few articles to see how it works. If I may ask you I have few other things I would like to ask/know:

is there possibility to delete by whom is the post written? If I am the only author on the blog?

I have chosen square thumbnails of initial pictures in every post. But if there is a picture in portrait format it is still shown in the whole format, not square.

where exactly can I see what other people will see? I have chosen different color of the background, different format of text, different color of heading… but I can see those (my changes) only when I want to customize my blog. When I click on preview of the post is still in old version

Where can I change if the heading of the post will stay permanent on the picture or is shown only when you move your mouse about it?

I did not find the possibility where I can rewrite the “about” to the Czech version

Is there possibility to have the share buttons all visible and not hidden in the “more button”? – pinterest, mail, print

In the post about manioc, cassava I put pictures. In the first two there is no space between them. In the second two pictures there is a space between them and I don’t know why when I posted the pictures in the same way. How can I correct it?

    Thank you !

    Hi there,

is there possibility to delete by whom is the post written? If I am the only author on the blog?

That’s a part of your theme’s design, and there isn’t a built-in way to change that. If you’d like to make additional customizations to your theme, you may be interested in the Custom Design upgrade.

I have chosen square thumbnails of initial pictures in every post. But if there is a picture in portrait format it is still shown in the whole format, not square.

I took a look at your blog, and I only see square thumbnails on the front page here: https://cloudup.com/cu6YZ3HJZAu

If you’re looking at the images within your posts, for example in the post “world of chili”, those will display the full image and not a thumbnail. If you’d like to have thumbnail images within a post, you can add an image gallery to your post. When you create the gallery, you can choose the Square Tiles gallery type to display the images as square thumbnails: Gallery

where exactly can I see what other people will see? I have chosen different color of the background, different format of text, different color of heading… but I can see those (my changes) only when I want to customize my blog. When I click on preview of the post is still in old version

Custom colors, fonts, and CSS are part of the Custom Design upgrade I mentioned earlier. You’re welcome to preview the custom design features in your blog’s customizer, but you’ll need to purchase that upgrade if you want those features to be used on your site. Otherwise, you can exit that custom design preview in the customizer to preview how your blog looks to visitors.

Where can I change if the heading of the post will stay permanent on the picture or is shown only when you move your mouse about it?

That’s a feature of the Gridspace theme — there isn’t a built-in way to change it.

I did not find the possibility where I can rewrite the “about” to the Czech version

The title “About” in your sidebar comes from the About page on your blog. You can change that title and the page contents by going to your My Blogs page and clicking on “Pages” under your blog there. You can edit the page and change the page’s title and contents from there.

Is there possibility to have the share buttons all visible and not hidden in the “more button”? – pinterest, mail, print

Yes, that’s an option. You can change that under Settings > Sharing in your blog’s dashboard. You can drag the sharing buttons you want into the “Enabled Services” section — just make sure they aren’t in the box that says, “Services dragged here will be hidden behind a share button.” We have more about that here: Sharing

In the post about manioc, cassava I put pictures. In the first two there is no space between them. In the second two pictures there is a space between them and I don’t know why when I posted the pictures in the same way. How can I correct it?

There is a space added between the second two pictures. If you open that post in the post editor, you can place your cursor between the pictures to add or delete spaces between them.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that.

thank you Rachel very much for your response. I see that there are too much differences… When I saw the theme I thought it could be more customized (without paid custom design) than it can be done in reality. I see there is no way to customize my account on this conditions.
Is there a possibility to return my account. To get the money back?
    Thank you

    Hi Lenka,

I’m sorry the Gridspace theme didn’t work out for you. I can certainly give you a refund on your theme purchase.

First, you’ll need to switch your site at http://zapalenakucharka.wordpress.com/ to another theme. You can pick a new one by going to My Blogs and clicking on “Change Theme” there.

Once you’ve done that, please let me know and I can issue you a refund for the Gridspace theme.

Dear Rachel I appreciate your kind offer but I can not see any other theme that layout would work for me at this time. I was looking for a theme couple of years till I found the Gridspace…
On this circumstances I would like to give up all my account. Would it be possible to get back the money I paid for the theme?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Lenka,

I’m sorry you weren’t able to find another theme that works for you. I can certainly refund your theme purchase, but I’ll need to switch your blog to a different theme before I can issue the refund (since your blog is still using the Gridspace theme right now). Is that ok?

If you prefer, you can change the theme yourself and then I can issue that refund, once the blog is no longer using the Gridspace theme.

  • Unknown's avatar

I see… I will do that (switch to a different theme) during today.
    Thanky you!

    Hi Lenka,

Thanks for letting me know! I just issued you a full refund for the Gridspace theme. (It can sometimes take 1-2 weeks for refunds to appear on your credit card statement.)

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!

Thank you Rachel! For answering my questions and everything!
